Contacts

Questions about a Nelson County release should go to the office that created the record. The contacts below separate the county jail, sheriff, court clerk, state corrections, supervision, notification, and federal systems so a request reaches the right custodian.

Nelson County Released Inmates is a private website, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody or release, retrieve an official file, change a record, contact a detainee, or release anyone. Use the agency contacts below for official help.

Nelson Jail Release Records

Nelson County Correctional Center is the logical first contact for its booking, custody, property, and release/removal records. Ask where the jailer’s records custodian accepts a signed Kentucky Open Records Act request. Public office hours were not published, so call before visiting.

Nelson County Correctional Center
810 W. Stephen Foster Avenue
Bardstown, KY 40004
502-348-1860
Hours: call ahead

Give the full name, date of birth or booking number, and approximate dates. Name the existing release/removal record and request its date, time, purpose, legal authority, and receiving custodian or destination.

Nelson Sheriff Records

The sheriff may hold arrest, service, or transport records. It is a separate office from the elected jailer, so do not assume it has the correctional center’s release sheet.

County Open Records Route

Nelson County Fiscal Court accepts a signed and dated request by mail to the Judge Executive’s Office, P.O. Box 578, Bardstown, KY 40004, or by email at openrecords@nelsoncountyky.gov with “Open Records Request” in the subject. Its page requires a Kentucky-residency statement and says responses are due within five business days.

Nelson County Judge Executive Office
1 Court Square, Second Floor
Bardstown, KY 40004
502-348-1800
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The county lists ten cents per page and forty cents per CD for pickup or mail and says it does not convert paper to digital. Those fees belong to that published county route and should not automatically be assigned to the jail or sheriff.

Nelson Court Records

The Circuit Court Clerk is the source for local judgments, bond and release orders, dismissals, probation orders, sentencing documents, and court dockets. The order supplies legal authority, while the jail record supplies the operational release time.

Kentucky Corrections Records

Use Kentucky Department of Corrections for a state prison, controlled-intake, parole, MRS, or final-discharge episode. KOOL is the public lookup. Existing records can be requested by email at correctionsopenrecords@ky.gov with a mailing address, by fax, or by mail.
